Relief Distribution & Advocacy for the Earthquake Hit Communities of Balochistan
November 1, 2008- March 30, 2009A series of earthquakes struck Balochistan on 29th October 2008. First earthquake of 5.2 magnitude jolted Balochistan early morning at around 04:33 hrs. Then the second and bigger tremor hit the areas with the magnitude of 6.4 at around 05:10 hrs. Subsequently, aftershocks were felt at 05:54 hrs and 06:32 hrs of the magnitude of 4.0 and 4.6 respectively. After 11 hours, again a strong earthquake of 6.2 magnitude jolted the area at around 17:32 hrs.

December 25th 2008 to May 5th 2009Violence against women takes dismaying forms and verities around the world, but the worst form that snatches away the lives of thousands of women each year is Honor Killing. From Centuries women have been facing death in the name of so-called honor, they have been burned, axed to death, beaten to death, shot at and killed by many other ways, just for the restoration of the family honor.
Community based Natural Resource Management Project Kharo Chan, District Thatta
2 Years [October 15, 2009- September 15, 2010Kharo Chan is situated at a distance of about 230 km East of Karachi in Thatta district. It is a taluks (tehsil) with a total of 42 dehs, 515 villages spread over a total area of 60,969 ha. The sea has engulted 12 dehs and the total affected area in the Taluka being 16,137 ha. It is a big deltic area along the Pakistan coastline that is facing environmental degradation and loss of livelihood opportunities for the local people.

June 1, 2008- June 30, 2012Balochistan is Pakistan’s largest Province in area (347,000 sq. kms) and has the lowest population (6.5 million). Generally, the economic and human conditions in Balochistan present a dismal picture of underdevelopment. Khuzdar district has a population of 488,500 (2007 estimate) with 43,661 sq km of area. The district capital is about 320 km away from the provincial capital. The district is topographically mountainous with a number of valleys.
Voters Education and Awareness for Participation in the Election Process in Sindh, Pakistan
October 15, 2007- January 15, 2008The then government of Pakistan was completing its tenure of five years in October 2007. According to the mandate the elections were be held within 90 days of completion of the tenure of government. The elected government was to lead the country for the next five years. The national elections are an opportunity for all Pakistanis to choose their government and to establish a precedent for democratic society in Pakistan. However, one of the key issues related to Pakistan elections was the growing lower turn out of the voters in the elections.
Drought Mitigation and Preparedness Project Khuzdar, Balochistan
Initiated in September 2007 and ended in April 2008Khuzdar is the third largest district area wise of Balochistan with an area of 43,261 sq. km and a population of 409,164 persons, according to the 1998 census. Population density is 10.54, lower than the provincial average. This area is traditionally below the poverty line. It is food insecure due to lack of agriculture, scarce economic opportunities and difficult access to food. Almost all food requirements are met through commercial mechanism.
Sustainable Land Management Project, Baghbana Khuzdar Balochistan
January 2007 - March 2008Groundwater has drastically depleted and degraded in whole Balochistan in general and Baghbana Union Council of Khuzdar district in particular as a result of use of unsustainable methods of irrigation. Groundwater has lowered to the extent of 700 feet at many areas of Baghbana.
Advocacy, Awareness and Capacity Building under "We Can End Honor Killing Campaign" in Pakistan
February 13- April 30, 2006The general trend of violence against women is increasing day by day at the level of family, society as well as state in Pakistan. In the family woman faces domestic violence at the hands of her close relatives especially their husbands. At the societal level the crimes against women including rape, abductions, and murders of women have increased many folds.








Supporting Vulnerable Communities especially Women in Government’s Land Distribution Program in Sindh
January 1- April 30, 2009Land has played a dynamic role in the history and culture of the Sindh and is a key source of livelihoods in the province. However, the existing land ownership pattern has historically been key hurdle in the socio economic development of the province and country as majority of the land has been under the control and ownership of minority influential landlords. Those landlords have been financially and socially exploiting the majority landless communities.
