Violence against women takes a dismaying variety of forms, but the worst form which snatches away the lives of millions of women each year is honor killing.
Each year uncountable women are killed in name of so called honor; they are burnt, sold, exchanged, and handed out to different tribes for compensation for a conflict.
Honor killing is a bitter reality that exists.
Women are stoned, bullet shot, beaten until dead, and attacked by axes, by their brothers, fathers, husband and even cousins.

Honor kiling is a crime from which our eyes are closed, but its time we WOKE UP and fight against this so called honor which is restored by killing of mothers, sisters and doughters.

WAKE UP is a global campaign aimed at mobilizing 5,000 changed agents around the World who will be the strength for these victimes of honor.

WAKE UP invites you to be a part of this Global campaign and be the force for change!!!
Presently more than one dozen multinational oil and gas companies are engaged in the exploration and production of oil and gas in Sindh and interestingly the majority of those multinational companies are operating in the disaster prone districts. Besides inland oil and gas exploration, for the first time Pakistan government has also issued licenses to the multinational companies for off-shore oil and gas exploration in the coastal waters of Indus Delta [Thatta and Badin].
However, the operations of the multinational oil and gas companies, in place of contributing towards the sustainable development of the disaster prone districts, are negatively contributing towards the degradation of livelihoods and the environment of the local areas. It is only because those multinational oil and gas companies are largely ignoring the standards of Corporate Social Responsibility, OECD [The Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development] Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, Petroleum Concession Agreements [PCA] made with the Government of Pakistan and other laws and rules governing the activities and responsibilities of multinational companies.
PDI with the support of Oxfam GB has launched a campaign for community mobilization and networking on CSR with regard to oil and gas companies in Sindh. The project is being initially implemented in five districts of Sindh i.e Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar and Dadu.
