PDI Establishes "Peoples Budget Resource Center" in Pakistan
We are happy to share with you that more than 60 organizational leaders, researchers, experts and community leaders gathered here in Karachi on March 29, 2009 and launched PEOPLES BUDGET RESOURCE CENTER, the first civil society institution to purely work on the budget related issues with peoples' perspectives.
The participants of the gathering belonged to all the provinces of Pakistan. The inauguration ceremony was organized by Participatory Development Initiatives [PDI]. PDI has been working on the concept of launching such center since last one year and had prepared ground work for this purpose.
In the inaugural ceremony PDI Director Sikander Brohi presented the concept and objective of the center and after discussion and some amendments by the participants the concept including the objectives were finalized and the formation of the Center was announced. The participants also discussed and suggested key activities for the first year of the center. The report of the inaugural ceremony is being prepared and would be sent to all the stakeholders within a week.
