PDI and other civil society organizations formed Balochistan Humanitarian Forum [PHF]
Quetta: In a grand provincial level consultative workshop organized on October 26, 2009 in Quetta by PDI jointly with Oxfam Novib, PDI and other civil society organizations decided to form Balochistan Humanitarian Forum. The consultation was attended by a large number of civil society organizations from Quetta and about 20 other disaster prone and vulnerable districts of Balochistan.
Majority of the Women Beneficiaries of Sindh Government Land Distribution Program Still Waiting for Land Ownership Documents, PDI Study Says
An Study conducted on the issues in the land distribution program of Sindh government has disclosed that above 50 percent of women land grantees of the program are still without legal land ownership documents, while in some cases influential people have occupied the land granted to the women due to lack of proper follow up support to the land grantees by the government.
Livestock Vaccination Camps held at DRM Project Area Khuzdar
The vaccination campaign of livestock has been the most crucial objective of Community Based Disaster Risk Management and Livelihood Program as in project area seasonal diseases outbreaks in cattle bring about sudden deaths and killings providing little time for treatment and ultimately cause heavy financial and emotional loss on the livelihood of pastoralists/ farmers.

PDI Campaign on Climate Change: Orientation Meetings held in Six Districts of Balochistan
Quetta: PDI has initiated awareness and advocacy campaign on climate change with the support of Oxfam GB. In this connection PDI organized district level orientation meetings on climate change in six districts of Balochistan. The orientations meetings were held in Lasbela, Awaran, Gwadar and Kech Districts on August, 20, 21, 27 and 28 respectively, while Khuzdar and Kalat orientation meetings were held on September 8, and October 19, 2009 respectively.

In collaboration with Oxfam Novib, Participatory Development Initiatives organized a district level training workshop for the officials and civil society representatives in Disaster Risk Management in Balochistan. 2-day training workshop on DRM was held in two districts, Khuzdar May 4-5, 2009 and in Kalat Balochistan on May 7-8, 2009.
